Aggressive Hugging: Mental Health Stigma and Combat Sports with Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Champion & Coach Erin Herle

Join Doc's Sarah & Alyse for a laid-back conversation about mental health in the world of combat sports! We chat with our World Black Belt Champion, Erin Herle, and discuss:

  • The associated stigmas, yes multiple, with combat sports.
  • The art of body awareness with combat sports.
  • Normalizing mental health in combat sports and how it strengthens the community.
  • Is the mental stigma the same for tactical as it is for combat sports?
  • Is tying your self worth and identify to your goal counter productive?
  • How slow and steady, along with being present, are the keys to "winning the race".
  • Equal opportunity for women? Think again.
  • Mental skills theory with combat sports.
